DENNIS, Felix
This is the Server III
The Server has crashed!
The Server is down!
The screens have dimmed in city and town,
The emperor stripped of his digital gown,
The babbling web is lame and halt,
Its pillars of silicone ground to salt –
Default! Default!
Default! Default!
The Sever is up!
The Server is back!
The techies have purged a hacker attack.
The natter and chatter is back on track,
The terminal drives have held their nerve,
The Sever survives -and as you observe –
I serve! I serve!
I serve! I serve!
I just stepped out
Where am I? – Oh, I just stepped out,
No need to make a fuss, or shout,
No need to comb the nearest wood
Or roam about the neighbourhood
Call off the dog – she’ll find no scent
Please don’t worry where I went,
And do not climb the garden tree,
My dear, you’ll catch no glimpse of me.
The attic steps wiil pinch your thumb,
The cellar will be dark and dumb,
Yet should you search your heart with care,
Though I am gone, you’ll find me there.
